Meet Anna

I am the mother of 3 wildly enthusiastic children, a teacher of high school English, an adjunct literature professor, an artist ever in search of the beautiful, and a writer of many things (though my first love is historical fiction).

I choose to approach life with hope, laugh often, and try never to take myself too seriously. (And, if all else fails, I have my children to keep me humble and Pinterest to forever remind me of all the ways I could be doing things so much better than I am.)

The name of my blog is pulled straight from Tennyson's poem The Lady of Shalott:

Four gray walls, and four gray towers,
Overlook a space of flowers,
And the silent isle imbowers
The Lady of Shalott.

Tennyson's poem has always been a favorite of mine, mostly because of Tennyson's honest look into the world of the artist. We capture life, yet often must decide whether to enter and possibly alter the landscape of the world we are trying to capture. This blog is my effort to find a balance between art and life--the entering in and the holding back.

Here—as writer, teacher, mother—I offer the world my weaving.
